How it works.
Step 1 - Tell us about it or bring it in.
Call with the year, make, model, mileage, and condition, or just stop by during business hours. Either way, we'll look at it in person before we put a number on it.
Step 2 - Same-day offer.
Based on current market data, the vehicle's condition, and what we can realistically sell it for, we'll give you a straight number before you leave. No “we'll call you later in the week.”
Step 3 - Take a check or roll it into your next vehicle.
If you're buying from us, the trade value comes off your purchase price. If you're just selling, we write you a check and you're done.
What we buy.
We're actively looking for:
- Trucks - half-tons and three-quarter-tons in working condition. F-150, Silverado, Ram 1500, Sierra, Tundra, Tacoma. These are what move fastest on our lot and what we pay the most for.
- Full-size and midsize SUVs - Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, Explorers, Grand Cherokees, Highlanders, Pilots, and similar. Clean history, reasonable miles.
- Reliable everyday cars- Camrys, Accords, Altimas, Civics, and similar platforms that have been maintained and aren't worn out.
- Clean titles - if the title is in your name and clear of liens (or you know your payoff), we can move quickly.
We're typically not in the market for flood-damaged vehicles, salvage titles, vehicles with frame damage, project cars, or high-mileage vehicles with no maintenance history. Not sure if yours qualifies? Call us and describe it honestly - we'll tell you upfront whether it's worth the drive to Collins.
The Mississippi trade-in tax advantage.
Most buyers don't know this going in: Mississippi calculates sales tax on a vehicle purchase based on the purchase price minus the trade-in value - not the full purchase price. If you're buying a $28,000 truck and trading a vehicle worth $10,000, you pay Mississippi's 5% sales tax on $18,000 instead of $28,000. That's $500 you keep compared to selling your vehicle privately and buying from us separately. On an $8,000 trade, you save $400. On a $15,000 trade, you save $750. That credit effectively closes a good portion of the gap between what a dealer pays and what a private buyer pays - which is why trading in makes more financial sense than most people expect when they run the numbers correctly.
Common questions.
Do I have to buy a vehicle from you to sell mine?
No. We buy vehicles outright and will make an offer whether you're in the market for something from us or not. If you want to sell and walk away, that's a perfectly fine transaction.
What if I owe more than the vehicle is worth?
That's called being upside down, and it's a common situation. If you're buying from us, the difference between what you owe and what the vehicle is worth gets rolled into the new loan - your lender pays off the old note and the gap becomes part of the financing. If you're selling without buying, you'd need to cover the difference at signing. We'll show you exactly where you stand when we run the numbers.
How long does it take?
If you're selling only, the appraisal and paperwork usually takes an hour or less once you're here. Trading into a purchase, add time for the purchase side - figure two to three hours total for the full transaction.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome. If you want to make sure someone's available when you pull in, call ahead at (601) 641-5475. Monday through Friday 9–6, Saturday 9–2.
