What iCD™ Actually Means
iCD™ stands for integrated cutting deck. That phrase describes how Ferris designed the deck chamber, blade arrangement, and spindle spacing to work together as a system rather than as separate components bolted to a frame.

On a standard commercial deck, the engineering goal is blunt: spin the blades fast, cut the grass, discharge the clippings. The iCD design takes the internal deck chamber shape into account. The chamber geometry is built to pull cut material upward before the blades throw it toward the discharge opening. That upward airflow matters for two reasons: the blade cuts grass while it's standing up rather than after it's been pushed over, and the clippings move through the chamber cleanly instead of stacking under the deck.
The result is a more consistent cut height and cleaner discharge — especially relevant when you're pushing through heavy, wet growth.

The 300R and 300E residential models at the low end of the Ferris lineup do not carry the iCD™ designation. If you're comparing models for a commercial operation, that distinction is worth knowing before you decide.
What to Expect Over Time
Blade sharpness determines how much the iCD system's airflow design can do its job. A dull blade does not generate the same lift and airflow through the chamber — the grass gets knocked over rather than cut cleanly, and discharge quality drops. On Bermuda in August, that shows up fast.
