How Commercial Mower Financing Actually Works at Dykes Motors

Most commercial mowers qualify for financing. Here's how the process works, what rates to expect, and how to think about monthly payments on Ferris equipment.

Most commercial equipment buyers pay cash for the first mower they buy. Some of them wish they hadn't.

When you're spending $8,000 to $15,000 on a Ferris, tying up that cash in one piece of equipment means it's not working anywhere else — not in operations, not in another machine, not in your next job. Financing makes sense for most commercial buyers, and it's simpler to set up than most people expect.

Here's how it actually works at Dykes Motors.

The Process

When you pick out a machine, we run your application through one of our top national lenders. It's a standard credit application — name, address, income, and whether it's a personal or business purchase. For most buyers, the approval comes back same day. A business can use an EIN and recent tax returns; an individual needs to show proof of income.

No major surprises in the process. If your credit is solid, you'll typically qualify for the promotional rates. Most approvals happen while you're still on the lot.

What It Costs

Current promotional rates run as low as 4.9% APR for qualified buyers. Let's put that in real numbers.

The Ferris IS 700Z 60" starts at $9,099. On a 60-month term at 4.9% APR, that works out to roughly $170 per month. The ISX 800 52" starts at $10,199 — about $192 per month on the same terms. The ISX 2200 at $12,699 runs approximately $239 per month at that rate.

Those are approximate figures at the promotional rate. Actual payments depend on the approved rate, term length, and any down payment. See all pricing at /ferris-mowers/catalog.

When Financing Makes Sense

If the machine earns its keep, financing makes sense. A landscaping operation putting 700 to 1,000 hours a season on a commercial zero turn can calculate exactly what the mower generates per hour and compare it to the monthly payment. For most commercial operators, the payment is a small fraction of what the machine earns.

For farmers and large-property owners across south Mississippi, financing preserves operating cash during busy season. A $10,000 check at a tight time of year hits different than $192 spread across twelve months.

Business buyers should also talk to their accountant before writing a check. Depreciation, Section 179, and interest deductions are worth understanding when deciding between cash and a payment plan. We don't give tax advice, but a lot of our commercial customers factor it in.

When Paying Cash Still Wins

If you're buying a lower-priced machine and the interest over the term adds more than you want to pay, cash is simple. The 300R at $4,299 and the 300S family starting at $5,099 are in a range where a lot of buyers just write the check, and that's fine.

What doesn't make sense is letting payment anxiety push you down to a weaker machine than your job actually requires. A residential mower running commercial hours will cost you in repairs and downtime. The financing on a commercial model often costs less per year than one major repair on the wrong machine. If you need help thinking through which machine fits your work, our service team can help you match the machine to the hours you're actually putting in.
